With Spring officially here we are feeling allergies in full effect! As the trees start to bloom and the pollen is released into the atmosphere, allergy sufferers begin their annual ritual of sniffling and sneezing.
It’s difficult enough dealing with the Spring allergies outside, having symptoms in your home can make it feel like there’s no escape. Here are a few simple ways to reduce the build-up of allergens floating around your home.
Keeping your home clean.
Cleaning regularly (vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping the floors) will help to keep allergens and dirt from building up in your house. Cleaning is definitely the number one most important thing to do in order to avoid allergy symptoms.
Taking your shoes off at the door.
To help lessen the frequency of sweeping and mopping in the house, taking off your shoes before you go inside is the easiest way not to track in unwanted allergens.
Washing your clothes and bedding regularly.
With the amount of pollen and allergens floating in the air, it’s important to regularly wash our clothing weekly and bedding every other week. This may help reduce the symptoms of skin-related irritations caused by allergies.
Using essential oils on your air filters.
Put of few drops of Sweet Orange essential oil on your air filters to create an antibacterial barrier for the air circulating in your home.
Managing pet hair (if you have an animal that sheds).
Grooming or bathing your animal regularly and being mindful to sweep up any pet dander and hair daily may help to lower the amount of dirt and build-up caused by our pets.
